Can you import my existing list?
Yes, free. Send us a spreadsheet, an old roster or a list of names and numbers in any format, and we import it for you. You can also upload a CSV yourself: up to 5,000 rows with names and phone numbers, plus optional emails and a group column.
How do people join on their own?
Share your Join page at smsgo.org/join/YOURCODE or its QR code. People enter their name, choose text or email, and confirm with a 6-digit code by text or a link by email. Or they text JOIN plus your code to 240-786-1112, and SMSGO asks for their name.
Do people I add have to opt in?
Phone numbers you add get a free text first asking them to reply YES, unless instant-add is on for your account and you have confirmed you already have their permission. Email contacts are added right away and get a short welcome note with an unsubscribe link.
Can I add someone from my phone?
Yes. Text #ADD with a phone number or email address and a name, like #ADD 2025551234 Jane Lee. Email contacts are added right away. Phone numbers get a free text asking them to reply YES, or are added instantly if instant-add is on for your account. The same #ADD line works by email.
What is a Recruiter?
A member you trust to add people. Recruiters can #ADD contacts from their own phone or email, and that is all they can do: they cannot send messages, see your list or change settings.
Is there a limit on list size or a per-contact fee?
There are no per-contact fees. The member limit for people who text JOIN is 200 by default and can be raised in Settings, up to 10,000. Big lists come in fastest through the free import.
Can members get email instead of texts?
Yes. People can choose email on your Join page, you can add people by email, and anyone who gets texts can switch to email by texting EMAIL.
Does adding people cost anything?
Join codes, welcome texts and opt-in texts are free. Welcome notes to email contacts are free for your first 100, then $0.003 each. After that you pay only for the messages you send.
